My Path to Mediation
Legal Expertise Meets Efficient Conflict Resolution
As a legal professional (Juristin) formerly admitted to the Austrian Bar (Rechtsanwältin), I’ve worked with conflicts and their many challenges in a wide variety of contexts:
- in M&A transactions, corporate disputes, and real estate deals;
- as counsel in national and international arbitration proceedings – particularly in insurance and reinsurance, franchising and distribution, as well as in the pharmaceutical, oil, and gas industries;
- in supporting sensitive private matters – such as inheritance matters, custody and alimony agreements, neighbor disputes, and condominium proceedings;
- and in workplace discord – including team dynamics, leadership tensions, and challenges in day-to-day collaboration across departments or hierarchy levels.
These experiences have deepened my belief that mediation is often a powerful alternative to traditional dispute resolution:
- Conflicts are draining – emotionally, financially, and in terms of time. They can impact relationships, your ability to focus at work, and overall quality of life – sometimes for years.
- Court proceedings don’t always lead to practical or sustainable outcomes. After months or even years, they may result in a legal ruling – but not in solutions that reflect personal needs, emotional realities, or long-term priorities.
- Misunderstandings often remain unresolved. The relationship stays tense, and the issues remains unresolved.
- In my experience, mediation is especially effective when a conclusion needs to be found quickly, confidentially, and with minimal strain on resources. In many cases, mediation achieves what legal proceedings cannot: it reduces cost and effort, addresses legal as well as personal and communication issues – and helps preserve or rebuild relationships while working toward practical, workable agreements.
My Approach
Navigating Conflict with Clarity and Empathy
My style combines clarity and structure with empathy and openness – creating space to address the issues that truly matter and focusing on agreements that are both realistic and lasting.
I believe that open, honest dialogue – even in challenging situations – is the key to resolving conflict. This means acknowledging tension without inflating or ignoring it. My role is to offer a space where constructive conversation becomes possible – whether it leads to clarity, closure, or a new path forward together.
I don’t act as a decision maker or advisor. I mediate – serving as a bridge between positions, and a translator across levels of perspective. My focus is on enabling and fostering constructive conversation and mutual understanding.
„Mediation empowers those involved to actively shape their own path out of conflict – with bespoke solutions that truly fit their unique life situations. These outcomes are often more flexible and lasting than a court ruling. It’s inspiring to see what can happen when people open up and start talking again - even in situations that seem hopeless or stuck.”
